In the United States, the presidential election result is still a long way off. It’s a head-to-head race between incumbent President Donald Trump of the Republicans and his challenger Joe Biden of the Democrats. 270 voters are required to enter the White House. Biden currently reaches 253, Trump 214. In five states, there are still days after the elections. The right to vote varies from state to state. The following is an overview of the situation:

Pennsylvania (20 voters)

Biden leads data provider Edison Research in the key federal state after counting 96% of the votes with 28,833 votes. It is 0.5 percentage points ahead of Trump. Pennsylvania Franchise Law automatically counts when the gap is 0.5 percentage points or less. Postal ballot papers with a postmark on Election Day (Nov.3) or earlier may still be accepted on Friday. Electoral scrutiny said the final tally could take days. The Supreme Court on Friday ordered Pennsylvania to separate mail-order votes received after 8 p.m. local time on election day from other ballots.

Biden has a 4,395 vote lead, according to Edison Research. 99 percent is counted. Trump must win in both Pennsylvania and Georgia to win the election. Given that the gap is a few thousand votes, Secretary of State Brad Raffensberger says a recount is likely. This is only possible after confirmation of the election result. This is expected by November 20 at the latest.

According to Edison Research, Biden comes in at 49.6 percent and Trump at 48.7 percent, which is a lead of 29,861 votes. 97 percent of the ballots are counted, 173,000 are still missing. These include more than 40,000 provisional ballots. You must first check if you have the right to vote and if votes are eligible. Counting of these slips is not expected until Wednesday, Secretary of State Katie Hobbs told CNN.

Local authorities expect most ballots by post to be counted by Sunday. According to Edison Research, Biden leads with 22,657 votes, or 1.8 percentage points. About 93 percent of the votes are counted.

North Carolina (15 voters)

A final result is not expected until next week. Postal ballot papers with postmark can be counted up to election day, provided they are received by 12 November. So far 98% of the votes have been counted. Here Trump leads with 76,515 votes or 1.6 percentage points.
