Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, an influential scientist considered the father of the nuclear program Iran
, was killed in an attack which, according to that country, has an Israeli stamp.
The vehicle in which Mohsen Fakhrizadeh was traveling was shot by several people who collided with his security team on the outskirts of Tehran.
The 59-year-old scientist, head of the Research and Innovation department of the Iranian Ministry of Defense, was seriously injured. He was taken to the hospital but died shortly after.
Through his Twitter account, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif spoke about serious indications on the role of Israel
in the crime, which, according to him, shows a desperate warmongering of the perpetrators and which he defined as state terrorism.
Mossad, Israeli intelligence, had followed him years earlier. Benjamin Netanyahu’s government has linked him to an alleged secret project to make an atomic bomb.
Indeed, in April 2018, Netanyahu explained those plans on television, describing him as the father of Iran’s nuclear weapons program.
