US first lady Melania Trump reacted on Twitter more than 24 hours after media projections showed Donald Trump lost the race for a new White House term.
“The American people deserve the right choices. Any legal, not illegal, vote must be counted. We must protect democracy through total transparency, “he wrote.
Sources quoted by CNN said, prior to this tweeet, that Melania Trump allegedly tried to get the incumbent president to publicly accept his defeat.
According to projections, Democratic candidate Joe Biden has garnered more than 270 electoral votes, the minimum number to guarantee his election.
However, Trump has contested this finding and is accused of voting fraud, although, according to the Federal Electoral Commission, there is no evidence to that effect.
He announced on Monday that his electoral team will go to court to challenge the counting of the votes he considers “illegal”.
