And already, five other countries have reported coronavirus-related mink outbreaks – USA, Spain, Italy, Sweden and the Netherlands.
Danish Health Minister Magnus Heunicke roughly said it half of the 783 human cases reported in northern Denmark were related to viral strain from mink farms.
And the country’s prime minister, Mette Frederiksen, said he now fears the new mutant virus poses a “risk to the efficacy” of a future vaccine. He said last week: The mutant virus in mink could present the risk that future vaccines will not work as they should.
In seven municipalities in the north, sporting and cultural activities have been suspended, public transport has been stopped and regional borders have been closed. A mini-block was ordered with closed restaurants, schools and other facilities.
