Marco Rubio, US Senator for the state of Florida, said that Nicolás Maduro intends to meet Donald Trump, president of the United States, to reverse the discontent he faces.
"Maduro wants a meeting with President Trump to try to reverse the growing discontent he faces within the elite of his regime," Rubio said in a shared image on his Twitter.
The senator, who made the comment after an interview with Maduro in the US media, said that on several occasions Maduro used the negotiations as a way to save time.
"The only thing that remains to be negotiated is its immediate exit from power so that the legitimate government of Venezuela can begin the reconstruction of the country, which Maduro has destroyed," Rubio said.
