Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro announced yesterday that his country’s scientists have “obtained a drug that 100% erases the coronavirus” that causes COVID-19, called SARS-COV-2, and will make it available to the World Organization of health (WHO) by study.

“I mean Venezuela has got a medicine that 100% erases the coronavirus,” Maduro said in a government act in which he said the Venezuelan Institute for Scientific Research (IVIC) has been studying it for six months.

“As a result, this study has been certified by experts and scientists and in the coming days the path will be built to ratify the results obtained by the IVIC through the WHO,” he said.

It is, according to the president, a molecule called TR-10 that “was totally isolated and subsequently compared with the COVID-19 virus” in a 6-month study that led to “100% annihilation. as a result of the virus ”

This molecule does not have “any kind of toxicity that affects healthy molecules” or causes side effects.

Maduro was confident that the studies will be ratified by the WHO and, subsequently, it will proceed “to prepare for mass production” thanks to “international alliances” which he did not specify.

The Minister of Science and Technology, Gabriela Jiménez, clarified that the study “was monitored through virus-infected cells (SARS-COV-2) isolated from Venezuelan patients”.

The molecule is, as he added, a derivative of ursolic acid and studies, according to his data, “show 100% inhibition of virus replication in vitro”.

On the other hand, the executive vice president, Delcy Rodríguez, reported that the authorities have identified 423 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number to 89,565.

Of these, 398 are community “and 25” imported “by repatriated migrants.

However, it did not break down the cases by state or report how many people have died in the past 24 hours from the disease caused by the new coronavirus called SARS-COV-2.

Earlier this month, Venezuela received a first batch with 2,000 doses of the Russian vaccine against the new coronavirus, Sputnik V, which will help this country participate in phase three of the drug’s development.
