“Bolsonaro’s far right was the great defeat in those elections,” said the founder and leader of the Workers’ Party, an organization that, together with the Socialism and Liberation Party, was the political group that grew the most in the these elections.

“The strengthening of the left and its humanistic values ​​and social justice shows that rebuilding another Brazil, more fraternal and supportive, is possible,” added Lula.

According to results released this Monday by the Supreme Electoral Court (TSE) of Brazil, the candidate of the Republican party for mayor of São Paulo and supported by Jair Bolsonaro, Celso Russomanno, came in fourth place after reaching just 10.5 percent . of counted votes.

In turn, in last Sunday’s elections the candidates supported by the Brazilian president were able to maintain their positions only in the states of Fortaleza and Rio de Janeiro.

Meanwhile, the Socialism and Liberation Party candidate for mayor of São Paulo, himself leader of the Homeless Movement, Guillermo Boulos, after winning 20.24 percent of the vote, will go to the second round with the current mayor, member of the Social Democratic Party of Brazil, Bruno Covas, who got 32.86 percent.

At the same time, according to local polls, black and transgender councilors are among the 13 most voted candidates in the South American country, all members of left-wing parties, mainly the Socialism and Liberation Party and the Labor Party.
