The number of reported infections in Germany has risen to 867,515. Countries haven’t reported that many cases in a single day since the start of the pandemic in Germany. The number of deaths related to the infection increased from 268 to 13,506. According to estimates by the Robert Koch Institute, about 293,429 people are currently infected and about 560,580 have recovered since then.
North Rhine-Westphalia reports the highest number of infections with 5428 cases, followed by Bavaria (4539), Baden-Württemberg (3128) and Hesse (2130). The smallest number of new cases are recorded in the small city-state of Bremen with 124 cases, as well as in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (144), Schleswig-Holstein (264) and Saxony-Anhalt (322).
The infection rate (R-value) is given by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) as 0.88 (previous day: 0.88). This means that on average 100 Infected 88 infect other people with Sars-CoV-2. The 7-day R-value has increased and is currently 0.99 (Previous day: 0.95).
