A Latin woman faces a second degree murder charge in the city of Jacksonville, Florida for starting a chase against a man who crashed his vehicle into a parking lot and ended up dead after both caused several accidents involving five motor vehicles.
Ana Jiménez, 22, was arrested for ignoring the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), Jacskonville police and firefighters to desist from the pursuit, which resulted in James David’s death. Robinson, 60.
Jiménez called the police when Robinson crashed his vehicle into a store parking lot on San Jose Boulevard in Jacksonville, North Florida and launched a high-speed chase.
According to the FHP, Robinson collided with another vehicle near Interstate 295 and then continued to cross the Buckman Bridge.
Both vehicles were pulling in and out of traffic before finally exiting on Roosevelt Boulevard, colliding several times.
Robinson eventually lost his life when he collided with a pickup truck and two other vehicles in the opposite lane.
Robinson had been found guilty three times for driving with a suspended or revoked license and was considered a habitual offender.
Jiménez suffered a driving violation for making an improper backup.
According to FHP, Jiménez ignored the authorities’ instructions and continued “to drive recklessly and endanger the lives of other drivers and individuals”.
“His actions indicate imminently dangerous actions to another person without regard to human life. His reckless actions resulted in the driver’s death … as well as damage to five vehicles and injuries to three people,” he said.
In addition to the second-degree murder charge, Jiménez, a prisoner in a St. Johns County jail, faces another case of reckless driving.
