The Israeli government has announced that it has reached a vaccine purchase agreement with Pfizer and BionTech companies, which have announced that they have developed 90% coronavirus vaccines.

In the statement by Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, it was announced that 8 million doses of the vaccine will be taken. Saying “It’s a great day for Israel,” Netanyahu said, “Our goal is to start the vaccine supply in January and continue more and more in the following months.”

WAITING FOR APPLICATION FOR APPROVAL

Pfizer and BioNTech companies also confirmed the deal, but did not disclose the financial details of the deal.

Israeli Health Minister Yuli Edelstein said the deal will be valid if the developed vaccine is approved by the US Food and Drug Administration and the Israeli Ministry of Health. Pfizer and BioNTech are expected to apply for approval this month.

WITH 8 MILLION DOSES THEY CAN EXCEED 4 MILLION

While the developed vaccine is expected to be given as a double dose to each person, this means that the 8 million doses that will be purchased by Israel will be used to vaccinate 4 million people. Israel currently has a population of 9 million.

In addition to the agreement with Pfizer, Israel has an agreement with the Moderna company on a potential vaccine to be produced in the future.
