The death toll in the knife attack in Nice, the southern city of France, has reached three. According to reports from the French channel BFMTV, many people were injured in the attack.

The attack took place in the Notre-Dame church in Nice.

Police sources said a woman was killed by beheading.

Sympathetic Mayor Christian Estrosi said on his Twitter account that a person was arrested in connection with the attack and thanked the police for the quick response.

Eric Ciotti, a member of the Alpes-Maritimes district, said the attack was “considered a terrorist attack”.

The victims of the attack were commemorated in the French parliament with a minute of silence and President Emmanuel Macron summoned the ministers to assess the crisis. Nice Mayor Estrosi said Macron would come to Nice and make remarks.

In Paris, the capital of France, on October 16, master Samuel Paty, who was showing caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad, was killed by beheading.

Four from the family of Abdoulakh A., who killed Samuel Paty during the investigation, a parent from Paty’s school and a person known to be “radical Islamists”, as well as five students, were arrested.
