Democratic White House candidate Joe Biden announced on Monday the creation of an operational group of medical experts who will be tasked with developing a plan to limit the spread of the novel coronavirus in America. The media described Joe Biden as the winner of the election ahead of Donald Trump. Several world leaders congratulated Biden and wished him success as president of the United States. Currently, the president of America is Donald Trump, until justice validates the election of the new president.
“Managing the COVID-19 pandemic is one of the most important struggles our administration faces and I will be briefed by scientists and experts,” Biden said. “The Advisory Board will help shape my approach to managing the rise in reported cases; ensuring safe and effective vaccines and distributing them efficiently, fairly and free of charge; and protecting high-risk populations,” Biden added. The task force will be made up of scientists and public health experts and will be led by doctors David Kessler, Vivek Murthy and Marcella Nunez-Smith.
Joe Biden has regularly criticized President Donald Trump for the way his administration handled the COVID-19 crisis.
With 9.9 million cases, the United States has the highest number of confirmed infections with the new coronavirus in the world, according to data provided by Johns Hopkins University. The United States also has the largest number of deaths – 237,000 – associated with COVID-19 out of a population of 330 million.
