Joe Biden announces his foreign policy and national security officers

(CNN) – President-elect Joe Biden announced Monday to members of his foreign policy and national security team.

Alejandro Mayorkas will be his Secretary of the Homeland Security Department and Avril Haines will be the director of national intelligence, according to a statement from the transition team.

Biden will appoint former US Secretary of State John Kerry as a special presidential climate envoy. The statement also confirms previous CNN report that Biden will elect Antony Blinken as Secretary of State, Linda Thomas-Greenfield as Ambassador to the United Nations and Jake Sullivan as National Security Advisor.
