Jake Tapper to interview Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in their first joint interview since winning the election

Washington (CNN) – CNN’s Jake Tapper will interview President-elect Joe Biden and Vice-President-elect Kamala Harris on Thursday in their first joint interview since winning the election, the network announced Tuesday.

Part of the interview will air on CNN’s “The Lead” at 4 p.m. ET and “The Situation Room” at 5 p.m. ET this Thursday, with the full interview airing later the same day for an hour. special at 9pm ET. It will air simultaneously on CNN International and in Spanish on CNN en Español.

The interview will take place in the city where Biden lives, Wilmington, Delaware, in the same theater where the president-elect introduced some of the top members of his administration.

Since they were designed as the winners of the November election, Biden and Harris have moved quickly to build a diverse administration that will help them address the nation’s most pressing issues.

This week, Biden unveiled the top members of his economic team who, if confirmed by the Senate, will lead an effort to rebuild an economy hit by the coronavirus pandemic. Last week, the president-elect introduced key members of his foreign policy and national security teams. Biden also recently announced a White House senior communications team made up exclusively of women.

During Biden’s first 100 days in office after he took office on January 20, the president-elect and his team should focus on approving a full financial aid package and, when not required, a series of executive action is to advance its priorities, CNN reported.

Republicans currently have a majority in the Senate, but control of the House will be determined by two ballots in Georgia in January. The scope of the stimulus legislation, the confirmation process for Biden’s cabinet candidates, and other legislative priorities will be affected by whether Republicans retain control of the Senate.

Transition officials say the content of the covid-19 pandemic tops the president-elect’s priority list. Biden’s team will also be tasked with conducting a mass vaccination campaign across the country when a coronavirus vaccine is approved. Starting an economic recovery and addressing racial inequality are also among its top priorities, according to transition officials.
