Iran has assassinated five leading nuclear scientists since 2010. The attack on nuclear physicist Muhsin Fahrizade, a key figure in Iran’s nuclear program, in the Abserd district of Tehran state, has brought back on the agenda for the past 10 years of murders against Iranian nuclear scientists.

As a physics professor, Fahrizade is said to have led the secret “Amad” program, which was allegedly founded in 1989 to develop a nuclear bomb. According to the IAEA, the program was stopped in 2003. Fahrizade was one of the five Iranian figures on the list of the 500 strongest people in the world published by the US magazine Foreign Policy. Fahrizade, who is considered the figure behind the Iranian nuclear program, is alleged to have played an active role in signing the nuclear deal.
