UNGRD arrives with 10,000 humanitarian aid

The National Risk Management Unit (UNGRD), the body with which it has started the management of at least 10,000 humanitarian aid, which would join the district effort of the OAGRD which has also provided market and toilet kits and mats to alleviate the situation . “About 5,000 tents have also arrived from Bogota, with which we will be able to serve more people if the damage continues,” added Fernando Abello Rubiano, director of the Office for Disaster Risk Management.

Mayor William Dau reported that the three unified command posts, PMU, have already distributed toiletry kits, food, mats, among other humanitarian aid.

San Andrés on alert

The Maritime Directorate General (Dimar), through the Caribbean Oceanographic and Hydrographic Research Center (CIOH), reports that tropical storm Iota continues its passage through the Caribbean generating winds of 35 knots, or 63 kilometers per hour, and gusts up to 40 knots, which equates to a speed of 72 kilometers per hour.

This tropical storm continues to generate rain and electric thunderstorms in La Guajira, Magdalena, Atlántico, Bolívar, Sucre and in the island area; observes the CIOH.

“Iota is expected to continue to affect these areas and in particular the archipelago of San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina, as well as the Cayos del Norte islands, especially the Serrana, Serranilla and Quitasueño islands, with moderate to heavy rainfall and winds. between 10 and 20 knots, that is from 18 to 36 kilometers per hour, wave heights between 2.0 and 3.5 meters and possible storm surges “, reports the CIOH.
