Infinite Puzzle: The metal monolith is now appearing in Romania

The conjectures around a recently discovered metal monolith in the state of Utah, in the western United States, continue: on the same day the pillar disappeared, another appeared in the Batca Doamnei hills near Piatra Neamt in Romania, in addition 9,500 kilometers far from Utah.

The triangular and hollow metal object is privately owned. “We still don’t know who owns the monolith,” said Rocsana Josanu, a city culture official. Normally a permit is required to erect such a structure there, as the area is an archaeological monument.

The newly discovered monolith is very similar to that of Utah. The stele over three meters high had caused a lot of speculation in recent days. It was discovered on November 23 by a helicopter crew.

Since then, Internet users have speculated whether the column was built on the basis of the film “2001: A Space Odyssey”. In the film, extraterrestrials use these monoliths to make living beings on earth more intelligent. This allowed the start of human evolution.

More likely, however, one explanation seems that the monolith in Utah came from sculptor John McCracken, who, according to the Guggenheim Museum, made very similar independent objects in the form of pyramids, cubes, or polyhedra. McCracken died in 2011 – but his son Patrick told the New York Times that his father had already told him in 2002 that he “would like to create works of art in remote locations so they can be discovered later.”

It is unknown if McCracken’s son removed the object from the US desert. All local authorities know is “that a person or group removed it on the evening of November 27”.

In connection with the new discovery, one user speculated on Twitter: “If extraterrestrials love equilateral triangles, a monolith should appear later in Greenland.”
