Prosecutors of the Directorate for Investigations on Organized Crime and Terrorism Craiova and police officers of Craiova conducted searches on Wednesday 23 in the counties of Ilfov, Brașov, Dolj, Gorj, Giurgiu, Olt, Sibiu and Vâlcea for the dismantling of a group organized criminal specialized in human trafficking and exploiter, informs Mediafax.
From the existing data it was established that, shortly after the dismantling of a group led by a prominent member of the underworld (group specializing in human trafficking and exploitation), the suspect in question (one of the lieutenants of the lieutenant), while in prison, between 2008 and 2011, together with three other inmates, used social networks to recruit young women who practiced prostitution and, misleading them, both promising a common future (loverboy method) and identifying a profitable job, exploiting respectively the their state of vulnerability (precarious financial situation, naivety, lack of education – determining factors for those young women in choosing to practice prostitution), convinced them to prostitute themselves for their own benefit.
Under the coordination of the leader, the foundations were laid for a criminal group specialized mainly in human trafficking, child trafficking and exploitation of prostitution and secondarily in blackmail (consequence of the payment of protection taxes).
Shortly after leaving the penitentiary, 12 other suspects joined the criminal group, with whom they recruited other victims, transported and housed in the western states (Germany, Spain, Italy, Great Britain, Switzerland), and forced them to practice prostitution for them in various clubs.
According to DIICOT, victims who, after being transported abroad, refused to practice prostitution were kidnapped and subjected to extreme violence (including rape), to be determined not to resist.
In most cases, the victims were held in buildings rented by the group leader, transported daily to places where they were forced to practice prostitution, were monitored / monitored permanently, and the money was taken entirely from the group members.
As a result of the research, it was established that young women were mainly exploited in nightclubs or rental locations in Germany, in the cities of Berlin, Bonn, Stuttgart and Frankfurt (Germany), but also in other European countries (Italy, Spain ). , Great Britain, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Austria).
Some of the victims were sold to other traffickers for the purpose of exploitation, the people who took over also received information about the victim, his behavior during the period of exploitation, information about the family, all to be blackmailed into being exploited and controlled more easily.
There were also situations where the perpetrators did not have control over the victims, even after applying physical corrections, in which case to prevent them from fleeing or returning to their homes in the country, they asked for different amounts. of money that the victims were unable to pay, thus forced to continue the prostitution activity.
Much of the money thus obtained by the members of the group went to its parent company, who subsequently invested them in various properties in the country and abroad.
The leader of the group charged the costs of protecting victims for carrying out lawful / illegal activities, “his lieutenants” often resorted to blackmail to collect them. The taxes were collected during the holidays organized by him.
