“I will be a president for all Americans”

By winning the 20 key state delegates of Pennsylvania, the Democrat overcomes the barrier of 270 electoral votes that bring him to the White House.

US President-elect Joe Biden said on Saturday 7-N “honored to have been chosen to lead” the country, in a tweet after major media screenings gave him the victory.

The work ahead of us will be tough, but I promise you this: I will be a president for all Americans, whether they voted for me or not. The confidence you have placed in me, “Biden wrote on the social network in his first message as president-elect.

Biden has just received 20 delegates from the key state of Pennsylvania and thus breaks through the barrier of 270 electoral votes more than 72 hours after polling stations closed on November 3 and the beginning of this long and uncertain examination.

The Democrat leads the outgoing US president, Donald Trump, from 284 delegates to 214 and surpassing half of the 538 constituency votes plus one, is the newly elected president.

Alaska, North Carolina, Georgia and Nevada remain to be decided.

The Electoral College is a body made up of 538 delegates who elect states based on their population. The winning candidate in each state, even if with only one vote, takes all of its delegates except Nebraska and Maine. The candidate who reaches 270 wins the election.
