A pack of hyenas killed an elderly man in Zimbabwe after breaking into his hut, pulling him out of bed and attacking him.
The victim was identified as Tendai Maseka, who was apparently sleeping when the unfortunate event occurred Monday night, authorities said.
Media such as CNN reported that the attack took place in the rural area of Chirumanzu in central Zimbabwe.
Similarly, they indicated that Maseka’s body was incomplete, about 300 meters from the house, and that the rangers are looking for the animals to sacrifice them.
Via Twitter, Tinashe Farawo, a spokesperson for the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority, said the old man lived alone and “hyena tracks and trailing marks” were found nearby.
An elderly man who was killed by a herd of hyenas in Chirumanzu (87 years old) was left alone. He was sleeping in a cabin when the unfortunate accident occurred. It was dragged about 300m, with the lower body missing. Drag marks and hyena tracks were visible.

The official added that the same herd would be responsible for the recent attacks on livestock in the region.
