In a statement, the Brazilian Federal Police, for its part, confirmed the implementation of the action, called Operation Exploit, “aimed at dismantling the criminal association that allegedly promoted hacker attacks on the TSE”, in the first round of the municipal elections held in Brazil.
According to the Brazilian authorities, three search and seizure warrants and three precautionary measures were carried out in the country prohibiting contact between investigators in the states of São Paulo and Minas Gerais.

According to the Brazilian police, the investigation finds that a group of Brazilian and Portuguese hackers, led by a Portuguese citizen, was responsible for the criminal attacks on TSE systems in the first round of municipal elections.

The crimes investigated in this police investigation are those involving the invasion of a computer device and a criminal association.
The Federal Police of Brazil also stressed that during the investigation “no elements were identified that could have compromised the counting, security or integrity of the voting results”.
