US President-elect Joe Biden’s team has confirmed Antony Blinken as the future Secretary of State. The 58-year-old was Biden’s political advisor on foreign policy issues for many years and also supported him in the election campaign. From 2013 to 2015 he was Deputy National Security Advisor to then US President Barack Obama and from 2015 to 2017 he was Deputy Secretary of State John Kerry.
Blinken recently attended a national security briefing with Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris and made public statements on foreign policy matters. He is a graduate of Harvard University and Columbia Law School. In the past, he had campaigned to strengthen US diplomacy and global engagement.
Biden wants to realign his country’s foreign policy: he has promised to cement relations with allies around the world and to bring the United States back to international agreements. For example, it announced a return to the Paris agreement on climate protection. Unlike incumbent President Donald Trump, he also wants to continue working with the World Health Organization (WHO).

In addition, Alejandro Mayorkas will be the first Hispanic American to head the Ministry of Internal Security, responsible, among other things, for immigration. Biden’s team also confirmed media reports that Jake Sullivan will become National Security Advisor to the White House and Linda Thomas-Greenfield will represent the United States as an ambassador to the United Nations. Tight conditions in the Senate
During the election campaign, Biden promised: “My government will look like America.” So diversity should be the motto. He could hold top positions in the Pentagon and the Treasury with a woman.
