A Saudi Islamist was arrested Thursday morning after attacking a security guard outside the French consulate in the city of Jeddah, located in southwestern Saudi Arabia, according to sources cited by France-Presse and Europe 1, Mediafax notes.
The Islamist stabbed a security guard with a knife. The attack was confirmed by the French embassy in Riyadh.
“The attacker was immediately arrested by the Saudi security forces. The security guard was transported to the hospital. We ask our compatriots in Saudi Arabia to show maximum vigilance,” the French embassy said.

Just a few hours ago a bloody attack took place in Nice with three dead and a man armed with a knife was killed by the police in Avignon.
The attack comes amid tensions between France and Muslim majority countries, following the publication of the cartoons of the Islamic prophet Mohammed.
