Citizens were recently asked to wear masks at the restaurant table.

A video shows how to do it.
Japan has had the coronavirus under control so far: with 156,614 cases and 2,177 deaths, the pandemic outweighed the pandemic relatively lightly. For comparison: According to Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, in the US state of Maryland, 340,155 people have been infected in Switzerland, more than double. The death toll, at 5,181 deaths, is well above the Asian country’s value (as of December 4, 2020). And this with significantly fewer inhabitants: around 8.8 million people live in Switzerland and 125.8 million in Japan.
But the number of cases has also been on the rise in Japan since November. In some metropolitan regions, the health system is said to be on edge. The government immediately tightened the reins: the restaurants are still open, but please behave differently in the future than before.
Chewing takes place behind the mask
Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga has called on his compatriots to eat their meals in silence from now on. What it exactly means is unclear. Because the expression he used can mean “low volume” on the one hand and “speechless” on the other. The addition was clearer: if you want to eat out or talk to friends over dinner, you should always leave the mask. Welt.de mentions Suga that he will abide himself. As a result, the hashtag “masuku kaishoku” – “eat with a mask” has become fashionable on social media.
But how is that supposed to work? The answer is a short video: if you want to grab a bite to eat or have a drink, you should first loosen the strap from one ear and pull the mask to the side. To avoid contamination, their surface must not be touched. After the bite and sip have disappeared in the mouth, the mask must be put on immediately correctly. Chewing also takes place behind the mouth and nose protection.
This procedure should establish itself as the new standard of courtesy in the days of the Crown, the Japanese government wishes. The Ministry of Health created the slogan “Always with the mask”, which is now emblazoned on many posters:
You can find out in the video above why some safety precautions at the table are a good idea.
