Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) discussed with several CEOs of multinationals in Davos, Switzerland, to highlight the many advances that Ethiopia is going through.
In the discussion, PM Abiy drew attention to noticeable improvements despite the challenges and stumbling blocks still present. He called the discussion as he flew to Davos to attend the World Economic Forum.
The prime minister told CEOs of the mega corporations that Ethiopia is one of the fastest growing economies in the world. He also stressed the strategic importance of the country's position for businesses, as it is conveniently located between Africa, the Middle East and Asia, "with huge untapped investment opportunities in agriculture, textiles, agro-processing, infrastructure and various [other] segments, "he said.
Ethiopia's growth and transformation plan (GTP), a plan implemented so that the government actively promotes private investment along with attractive incentive packages, supported by intense government projects, added the prime minister , is the "quint incarnation of the increase of Africa" narrative. "Ethiopia's GTP, while offering investors a great deal of support, aims to help the country achieve its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in an attempt to reach middle-income country status by 2025.
According to the World Bank, Ethiopia continues to be one of the fastest growing economies in the world, continuing its growth trend at a rate of over ten percent for over a decade.
