José Valencia, Ecuadorian chancellor, said that equality before the law is the best "antidote to xenophobia" and stressed that the government guarantees the human rights of citizens and foreigners.
Valencia has indicated that we must distinguish between honest Venezuelans fleeing from the government of Nicolás Maduro and others, a minority, who take advantage of the reception of Ecuador to "commit misdeeds".
"Only a few have abused our hospitality and committed crimes: measures to protect citizens' peace and peaceful coexistence will apply to citizens and foreigners, and nobody is on the law," he said.
The government of the country has announced that from this Monday the criminal record will be required apostille to all Venezuelans who enter Ecuador.
