Um elderly, 87 years old, was killed by a herd of hyenas, after taking him out of bed, while he slept, in his mud and wooden hut, located in Chirumanzuin the center of Zimbabwe.
Tell to CNN that man, identified by local authorities as Tendai Maseka, was dragged by the animals for about 300 meters. The body was found by the neighbors a few hours later, without legs.
The case happened on Monday evening. According to a spokesperson for Parks and Wildlife of the Zimbabwesince that day the park rangers have tried to “eliminate” the hyenas that killed the old man.
The same herd, consisting of more than six hyenas, is believed to have been responsible for a number of recent attacks on livestock.
Authorities have already warned residents in the region of the danger of further attacks. The inhabitants must keep all doors and windows closed during the night until the animals are captured.
