Due to the illegal donations from Switzerland, which were veiled with the help of straw people, the AfD is now called upon to pay. According to information from “Spiegel”, the German party has to pay over half a million francs.
These are two sanctions by the Bundestag administration for illegal party donations from Switzerland. The inadmissible acceptance of two illegal “straw man donations” cost the party a total of 504,429 euros, or almost 545,000 francs.
The amount of the fine consists of two specific penalties against the party. A fine is based on the funding of the AfD-organized congress “European Visions – Visions for Europe” in February 2016, according to “Spiegel”.
Two cases, two penalties
Part of the costs of the event were financed by a Swiss advertising agency. The Bundestag administration views this funding as an illegal party donation. The fine: 108,412 euros.
The second fine of € 396,016 is also based on a payment classified as an illegal donation. At the center of the story is the parliamentary leader of the AfD Alice Weidel (41), also resident in Switzerland. In 2017, 150,000 francs went to their district association.
Between July and September 2017, these CHF 150,000 passed from the Zurich-based pharmaceutical company PWS to the chairman of the AfD parliamentary group. (euc)
