Extreme athlete Vincent Reffet, known for his daring jet flights, had a fatal accident while training in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. The Frenchman died on Tuesday, Jetman Dubai announced.
No further details were provided. The company is working with the relevant authorities to investigate the incident. Reffet was a “talented athlete” and was very popular on the team.
Reffet was a partner of Yves Rossy, known as “Jetman”, who crossed the English Channel between France and Great Britain with his jet wing in 2008 and the Grand Canyon in Arizona in 2011. With the nozzle blades it is possible to reach speeds of over 300 kilometers per hour.
He shot through the “gate of heaven”
Among other things, Reffet caused a sensation in 2014 with his jump from the tallest building in the world, the 828-meter-high Burj Khalifa in Dubai. The following year he flew alongside Swiss Rossy alongside a double-decker Airbus A380, the largest passenger plane in the world.
In 2019, Reffet and his partner Fred Fugen walked through a natural hole in the rock on Tianmen Mountain in China’s Hunan province, also known as the “Gate of Heaven”. (SDA)
