Almost a year after the art theft in Dresden’s Green Vault, German police arrested three suspects in Berlin on Tuesday morning. These are to be presented to the investigating judge later in the day, as announced by the public prosecutor in Dresden (Saxony).
A total of 18 properties in the capital have been searched since morning, including ten apartments, garages and vehicles. According to the authorities, there are nearly 1,640 police officers on duty. The focus of the measures would be the search for stolen art treasures and possible evidence such as storage media, clothing and tools.
In one of the most spectacular raids of recent decades, outsiders stole art treasures of barely measurable value from the famous treasure chamber of the Green Vault in Dresden in November 2019.
