Donald Trump’s lies about alleged presidential election fraud don’t just threaten people’s trust in democracy. Now they are also harming his own party.
Republican leader Ronna McDaniel had to experience this during a countryside appearance in Marietta, on the outskirts of Atlanta. In Georgia, both Senate seats will be available for elections on January 5. The outcome decides the majority in Washington.
An angry Trump supporter asked McDaniel a simple question: “Why should we invest money and work when the outcome is decided?” He asked. “Nothing is decided,” McDaniel said. “If you lose faith and don’t vote, then it’s decided.”
It didn’t sound very convincing. McDaniel is among those who support Trump’s claim that the November elections were not done correctly. It’s unclear why he should see it differently in January.
