President Donald Trump announced on Twitter on Tuesday the firing of Chris Krebs, the head of the Agency for Infrastructure Security and Cyber Security, who has challenged allegations of fraud in the presidential election brought by the White House leader, AFP reports.

“Chris Krebs’ recent statement on the security of the 2020 election was extremely inaccurate, as there was massive irregularity and fraud,” President Trump wrote. “As a result, Chris Krebs was fired as director of the agency for infrastructure security. And cybersecurity, effective immediately.”

For his part, Krebs also took to Twitter to dismiss false allegations of election fraud, often promoted by Donald Trump.
As director of the agency, Krebs was one of the top US officials who helped protect the voting infrastructure from the risk of external interference or internal fraud.
