Current corona numbers: RKI reports 10 824 new infections – advice

[ad_1]

According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), health authorities reported 10,824 new corona infections in Germany within one day on Monday.

This is about 6,100 fewer cases than on Sunday, according to information from the RKI on Monday morning. The number of registered cases is usually lower on Mondays, also because fewer tests are carried out over the weekend. On Monday, the number of new infections reported was 13,363. The peak was reached last Friday with 23,542 cases reported.

According to the RKI, a total of 801,327 people across Germany have been infected with Sars-CoV-2 since the start of the pandemic (as of November 16, 12:00). The number of deaths related to the virus jumped from 62 to 12,547 by Monday The RKI estimates that about 515,200 people have recovered.

The number of active cases is approximately 273,600.

The seven-day incidence

In most cities and counties, the critical value of new corona infections – 50 per 100,000 population in seven days – is currently exceeded, sometimes by a multiple. This animated chart shows how the number of risk areas has increased so far:

R.

According to Sunday’s RKI situation report, the so-called seven-day R was 1.03 (previous day: 1.05). This means that 100 infected people theoretically infect 103 other people. The value represents the occurrence of the infection 8 to 16 days ago. If it is less than 1 for a long time, the infection process subsides.

How widespread is Corona in the world?

The private Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore (USA) determines the world number of crown cases. When comparing the German numbers of Johns Hopkins to those of RKI, RKI appears to be lagging behind in registering new crown cases. Reason: Both institutions determine the number of cases in different ways.

This is how RKI works

As an independent federal authority for infectious diseases, the Robert Koch Institute is currently determining all of our lives with its figures, investigations and knowledge gained from them.

People with 90 different professions from 50 countries work there. Of the 1296 employees, 1224 are in Berlin and 72 in the Wernigerode branch. Berlin’s 24/7 situation center alone has 150 employees.
