Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel on Wednesday rejected the use of US-funded violence and terrorism against the Caribbean nation after recent public complaints on the matter.

Díaz-Canel’s statements came through a message posted on Twitter, in
which refers to a report broadcast on national television this Tuesday. The president deepened: “Violence and terrorism are part of the plan with which they intend to destabilize our society. The moral character of the mercenaries and their financiers is revealed”.
The recent television report presented filmic evidence of instigating acts of sabotage and subversion on the island from US territory in exchange for money and promises of emigration.

The material showed the statements of several Cuban citizens, with instructions and monetary resources from people and organizations based in South Florida (southern United States), to set fires on commercial and service facilities in Havana (capital of Cuba).
The vandalism included other targets such as vehicles, medical clinics, education centers, and computer stores. Additionally, according to the material, one of the authors collected information about the National Electric System (SEN), which he later provided to those who contacted him. This information would later make it possible to organize attacks on the NES, spreading false news, in order to create discontent and irritation.
Among the sabotages carried out, the derailment of a freight train from the Mariel container terminal, the enclave of one of the most important investments in the country, stands out. The investigation into the incident, which took place in May 2019, allowed the arrest of the four perpetrators, who confirmed the instigation, organization and funding from Florida.
