Austria will issue a second national quarantine starting Tuesday, after the number of new cases of coronavirus infection increased 10 times more than expected. Austria will remain in solitary confinement for a period of two and a half weeks, according to CNN.
Chancellor Sebastian Kurz announced the new measures at a press conference in Vienna on Saturday. The Austrian CEO acknowledged that the government is no longer able to find the source of the infections in the context of increased transmission in the community.
The new measures include the closure of all non-essential services, the closure of schools and people will be able to leave their homes only for specific reasons. The blocking measure will remain active until 6 December.
With a population of around 9 million, Austria has recorded between 7,000 and 9,000 new cases of coronavirus infection every day in recent days.
