The University of Washington’s Institute of Health Metrics and Assessments has estimated that by the end of the year the United States will reach 320,000 deaths by the end of the year and 440,000 by March 1.

The United States is the country with the highest number of deaths and also with the most confirmed cases of infection.

Mexico

Mexico has recorded 813 deaths and 10,794 infected with the new coronavirus in the past 24 hours, officials said.

This is the largest daily increase in cases since October 5, when health authorities counted 28,115 new infections.

Since the start of the pandemic, the total number of deaths has risen to 102,739 and the number of infections to 1,060,152.

Covid-19 is on track to become the second leading cause of death in Mexico as it approaches diabetes, which caused more than 104,000 deaths last year, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).

With these numbers, Mexico remains the eleventh country with the highest number of infections and the fourth with the highest number of deaths, according to the independent count of Johns Hopkins University in the United States.
