Coronavirus Romania. We are on the verge of 10,000 deaths from COVID-19. Worrying number of patients admitted to ATI

Authorities said on Saturday 21 November 2020 that 9,685 new cases and 160 deaths have been reported in the past 24 hours. In the ATI wards 1,132 patients in serious condition are hospitalized.

Since the start of the pandemic to date, 412,808 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID – 19) have been confirmed in Romania.
287,310 patients were declared cured.

Following the tests carried out at national level, compared to the last report, 9,685 new cases of people infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (COVID – 19) have been recorded, being cases that previously had not had a positive test.

To date, 9,916 people have died diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Between 20.11.2020 (10:00) and 21.11.2020 (10:00) they were reported 160 dead (98 men and 62 women), of some patients infected with the new coronavirus, hospitalized in the hospitals of Alba, Arad, Arges, Bacau, Bistrita-Nasaud, Botosani, Braila, Brasov, Buzau, Calarasi, Caras-Severin, Constanta, Covasna, Dambovita, Dolj, Galati, Gorj, Harghita, Hunedoara, Ialomita, Iasi, Maramures, Mures, Neamt, Olt, Prahova, Satu Mare, Sibiu, Salaj, Teleorman, Timis, Tulcea, Vaslui, Ilfov and Bucharest.

Of these, 1 death was recorded in the 20-29 age group, 3 deaths in the 30-39 age group, 6 deaths in the 40-49 age group, 16 deaths in the 50-59 age group, 39 deaths in the 60-69 age group, 60 deaths in the 70-79 age group and 35 deaths in the over 80 age group.

151 of the deaths recorded concern some patients with comorbidities, 4 deceased patients did not have comorbidities and for 5 deceased patients no comorbidity has been reported so far.

In specialized health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 13,294. Of these, 1,132 are hospitalized at ATI.

To date, 3,877,953 tests have been developed nationwide. Of these, 33,221 were performed in the past 24 hours, 20,387 based on case definition and medical protocol, and 12,834 on request.

On the Romanian territory, 47,248 people confirmed infected with the new coronavirus are in isolation at home and 13,663 people are in institutionalized isolation. In addition, 77,333 people are quarantined at home and there are 16 people in institutionalized quarantine.

In the last 24 hours, 5,484 calls have been recorded to the single emergency number 112 and 832 to the TELVERDE line (0800 800 358), open mainly to inform citizens.


Following the violation of the provisions of Law no. 55/2020 regarding some measures to prevent and counter the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmerie applied, on November 20 of this year, 7,208 fines, for a total of 1,175,680 lei.
Moreover, through the competent police structures, 3 crimes were ascertained yesterday to combat the fight against diseases, an act provided for and punished by art. 352 criminal code.

We remind citizens that the Ministry of the Interior has made operational, starting from 04.07.2020, a TELVERDE line (0800800165) where violations of health protection regulations can be reported.
The calls are taken over by a dispatcher, in an integrated system, and distributed to the territorial structures for the verification of the notified aspects.

As for the situation of Romanian citizens in other states, 6,864 Romanian citizens were confirmed infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (coronavirus): 1,935 in Italy, 1,253 in Spain, 124 in France, 3,018 in Germany, 167 in the United Kingdom, 36 in Hungary, 28 in the Netherlands, 2 in Namibia, 4 in the United States, 123 in Austria, 22 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 8 in Switzerland, 3 in Turkey, 2 in Iceland, 2 in Belarus, 93 in Greece, 10 in Cyprus, 2 in India, 2 in Ukraine, 8 in the United Arab Emirates and one in Argentina, Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Brazil, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Sweden, Republic of Congo, Qatar, Vatican, Portugal and Egypt. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) epidemic and so far, 126 Romanian citizens abroad, 31 in Italy, 19 in France, 43 in Great Britain, 11 in Spain, 14 in Germany, 2 in Belgium, one in Sweden, one in Switzerland, one in the United States, one in Brazil, one in the Republic of the Congo and one in Greece have died.
Of the confirmed Romanian citizens infected with the new coronavirus, 797 were declared cured: 677 in Germany, 90 in Greece, 18 in France, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Namibia, one in Luxembourg and one in Tunisia.

Coronavirus pandemic record in Romania

The highest number of new cases was reported on Wednesday 18 November 2020. GCS reported no fewer than 10,269 infections in 24 hours.

Most of the ATI patients were registered on November 16. 1,187 Romanians were in intensive care at that time.

The largest number of deaths was broadcast on 11 November (203).

To date, over 1.3 million people have died from the coronavirus.
