The intubation procedure and a doctor’s face are examples of what a patient with covid-19 can see before they die.
Kenneth Remy, an intensive care doctor from Missouri, United States, demonstrates this in a video that he shared on his social networks to warn the population of the risk of the disease.
The recording puts the viewer in the place of a patient, in serious condition, who is already breathing heavily. “This is what you see when you breathe 40 times a minute and your oxygen level is below 80”, Remy warns. The doctor also simulates the intubation procedure to provide oxygen, in one of the last moments of the patient’s life.

The video, which already accumulates thousands of views, “likes” and shares, tries to raise awareness of the importance of masks, social distances and frequent hand washing. “I don’t want to be the last person to look you in the frightened eyes,” he wrote in the publication’s caption.

In the United States, the pandemic is out of control and over 13 million cases are already registered. Many emphasize the use of masks as a political gesture and, therefore, fewer and fewer people wear them.
