Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Africa exceed 1.96 million

ADDIS ABABA, November 15 (Xinhua) – The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 on the African continent has reached 1,963,702, the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) said Sunday.

The Continental Agency for Disease Control and Prevention said in a statement that the death toll related to the pandemic was 47,104 as of Sunday afternoon.

A total of 1,657,142 people infected with COVID-19 had recovered across the continent so far, according to the Continental Agency for Disease Control and Prevention.

The African countries most affected by COVID-19 in terms of the number of positive cases include South Africa, Morocco, Egypt and Ethiopia, as data from Africa CDC showed.

The Southern African region is the region most affected by COVID-19 both in terms of the number of confirmed positive cases and in terms of the number of deaths, it was noted.
