Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Africa exceed 1.85 million: Africa CDC

ADDIS ABABA, November 7 (Xinhua) – The number of confirmed cases on the African continent has reached 1,855,396, the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) said Saturday.

The Continental Agency for Disease Control and Prevention said in a statement that the death toll related to the pandemic was 44,471 as of Saturday afternoon.

A total of 1,555,271 people infected with COVID-19 have recovered so far across the continent, according to the Continental Agency for Disease Control and Prevention.

African countries most affected by COVID-19 in terms of the number of positive cases include South Africa, Morocco, Egypt and Ethiopia, figures from the Africa CDC show.

The Southern African region is the region most affected by COVID-19 both in terms of the number of confirmed positive cases and in terms of the number of deaths, it was noted.
