The United Socialist Party of Venezuela announced that it would march on the streets of Caracas on January 23, the same day the opposition called a major mobilization in the capital to reject the second term of Nicolás Maduro.
"We, on January 23, go to the streets to remind the world that Venezuela is no longer betrayed, businessmen and old political parties will no longer betray our people," said the first vice-president of the PSUV, Diosdado Cabello.
The president of the constituent national assembly explained that the government will organize "three major marches" that will start from east and west of the city, so he hopes to see that day "Chavismo spilled out into the streets".
"I'm going to tell you what will happen on the 23rd: nothing, nothing is going to happen because of the lack of political coherence of the right, because of the conscience of the people of Venezuela who do not want violence," he said, referring to the mobilization of opposition.
"There is no way or way for the opposition to make a transitional government." On 24 January, Nicolás will continue as president, "he continued.
He noted that the ANC has not yet decided whether to advance the election of Members of Parliament this year. "If we approve it in the ANC, there will be elections, and that AN in contempt will disappear ipso facto", he warned, after accusing the deputies to be "usurp the will" of those who re-elected Maduro last May.
