Boris Johnson warned residents of England on Thursday that the region could enter a new widespread quarantine near the New Year if they violate rules imposed to stop the spread of the virus after December 2, when the current lockdown expires, Agerpres reports. .

Boris Johnson’s comments came after local governments in the UK and Scotland introduced restrictions that their citizens will have to abide by during the holiday season.
British Health Minister Matt Hancock revealed in a speech in parliament which regions of England will have the most severe local restrictions when the country comes out of national quarantine on 2 December. Hancock said some of the cities in the north of England and the Midlands, including Manchester, Birmingham and Leicester, will face the toughest restrictions, those at level 3, while London is currently at level 2.
Scottish Prime Minister Nicola Sturgeon has announced that the country’s parliament will relax during the Christmas period from 23 to 27 December, to allow citizens to travel to the UK to meet friends and family. England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland decided earlier this week to ease their Christmas restrictions so people can see their families. Some of these rules for December 23-27 allow Brits to meet families from two other families, but only in private homes, places of worship and outdoor spaces.
