The main governing bodies of English football, the FA, Premier League and EFL, have agreed on some of the entry requirements for foreign players following the UK’s exit from the European Union on 31 December this year.

One of the main guidelines is that English clubs will no longer be able to sign players under the age of 18. Players from European Union countries, from 2021 onwards, must obtain a work permit, as was already the case for players considered foreign.

This license, to be obtained, will work with a points system, analyzing criteria such as the international presence of young people and the main selection; quality of the selling club, based on the league, league position and progression in international competitions; number of minutes played.
