Bogota restaurant, in the top 10 of the 50 best in Latin America

Two positions behind, in 27th place, is “Leo”, by chef Leonor Espinosa, who in past years has won the award as the best cook in Latin America.

The other Colombian restaurant on the region’s best list, which is part of the famous The World’s 50 Best Restaurants, is Cartagena’s Celele, which ranked 49th in its first appearance on the list.

The first place was taken by the grill of Buenos Aires, Argentina, “Don Julio”, while the country that occupied the most positions in the top 10 (with 3 restaurants) was Peru, followed by Argentina and Mexico, with 2 each; and Colombia, Brazil and Chile, the other 3 countries with at least one representative in the top 10.

‘El Chato’, in Bogotá, is located in zone G, in the Quinta Camacho neighborhood, an area that for more than a decade has positioned itself as the hotspot of the most sought after gourmet restaurants in the city and the country.

It is the third consecutive time that ‘El Chato’ has been awarded on the list (it was also awarded in 2018 and 2019), according to the restaurant’s website. Its menu varies between fish and meat dishes, with unique sauces and preparations of the house.

For her part, Colombian chef Leonor Espinosa was awarded by the same publication with the ‘Estrella Damm Chefs’ Choice Award’, among this list of special awards.
