Democratic White House candidate Joe Biden said Wednesday 4-N that no one will take away democracy from Americans as the vote count advances in the election, in a speech by the Chase Center in Wilmington (Delaware).
“No one will take our democracy away from us, now or ever,” said Biden, who leads US President Donald Trump into Electoral College, according to projections in major US media.
“We believe we will be the winners” when all the votes have been counted, Biden said he leads the US president, “added the former vice president.
With the 16 delegates that Michigan grants to Electoral College, Biden adds 264 to the 214 that Trump amasses, in their common goal of reaching the 270 delegates who give victory.
Now Biden just needs to score one more of the four key states with continuous scrutiny (Nevada, Georgia, Pennsylvania and North Carolina) to surpass the 270 that would give him the keys to the White House.
Biden only leads Trump in the Nevada vote, but that state’s electoral authorities have announced that they won’t deliver results until Thursday.
In reality, only new results are expected this Wednesday from Georgia, where the president currently leads Biden by just over a percentage point.
In Michigan, according to the provisional tally, Biden won with 49.8% to 48.6% for Trump, or nearly 67,000 votes.
It is the third state the Democrat snatches from Trump after Arizona and Wisconsin since the 2016 election.
Michigan was one of three Midwestern states along with Wisconsin and Pennsylvania that Trump won by surprise and narrowly in 2016 by paving the way for the White House.
Previously, Michigan had voted Democrat in the previous six presidential elections.
