Biden is almost there

JIn the US presidential election, OE Biden won the prominent state of Michigan with 16 voters according to broadcasters’ forecasts. This emerged Wednesday (local time) from corresponding predictions from CNN and NBC channels based on polls and vote counts. The AP news agency has not yet announced a winner. For Biden, the success in Michigan is an important stage win. If he is already a winner in southern Arizona, as AP news agency and other media claim, he just needs to win another state to get the necessary number of 270 voters and thus win the election against incumbent Donald Trump.

Shortly before, the Democratic candidate had also secured his Michigan neighbor, Wisconsin. According to CNN and NBC, Biden settled on 253 voters Wednesday afternoon (local time). But broadcasters still hadn’t slammed Arizona with eleven Democratic voters. That would mean 264 voters.

Biden brought Michigan and Wisconsin back from Republicans to the Democratic camp and immensely improved his chances of winning the election. Michigan is known as the “swing state”. The 16th electorate went to Trump in 2016 with a slim majority. At the time, he was 0.3 percentage points ahead of Hillary Clinton. Polls have seen Biden clearly in the lead in this election – and in the end they should be right.

After evaluating over 85% of the votes, Biden had already driven as expected. The absent vote should also go in his direction, but it’s unclear whether the new numbers would be enough for the media to declare a winner that evening. In Nevada, votes received by November 10 are also valid, but no more than the election day postmark on Tuesday.

In Georgia, Biden was behind by a few ten thousand votes. Officials also expected results from other counties by 9:00 pm local time (3:00 am German time), including Fulton County with the Democratic metropolis Atlanta. Commentators thought it was possible that the Democrat could overturn the state.

Biden wants to reunite America

Before Biden’s Michigan win became known, he and his runner-up Kamala Harris had appeared in front of the camera and seemed to be forgiving. The day proved that democracy is the “heartbeat of our nation,” Biden said. And this for over two decades. There is a government of and for the people. “People rule here,” he said, turning against Trump without naming him.

Biden did not declare himself the winner, but said that when the count was over it would be determined that way. Before doing this, each vote must be counted. However, it is clear that enough states will win to win the presidential election. It also feels good in Pennsylvania. He is still behind with just over 300,000 votes, only 86 percent of all colleges have been counted.

Biden looked ahead and kept talking about wanting the country again. “We must stop treating our opponents as enemies,” he said and promised to lead the country primarily as an American president – and not as a member of the Democratic Party. His victory is therefore also a success for the American people, for democracy, for the “United States of America”.
