Czech police announced Tuesday that they were looking for a shotgun “fortunately unloaded” and “stolen” last week by a deer to a hunter, AFP reports.

The animal fled to the forest carrying that rifle in its horns after an organized hunt near the town of Horni Plana, located in the southwest of the Czech Republic.

“The deer was caught by a dog. He stood up and attacked the hunter, swept past him and tore off the left sleeve of his coat,” Czech regional police said in a message posted on their website.

“The shotgun, hanging from the hunter’s left shoulder, fortunately unloaded, slipped on the deer antlers and disappeared with the animal,” added Czech police.

Shortly thereafter, another hunter saw the deer still with that rifle hanging between its horns, about a kilometer from where the weapon had been “stolen”.

The search for Czech hunters in that forest has not yet yielded results.
