To contain the Corona crisis, the Austrian government wants to close shops and schools for three weeks and impose restrictions on 24-hour exit. This emerged Saturday from a draft ordinance that was presented to the German news agency in Vienna.
Federal Chancellor Sebastian Kurz (ÖVP), Health Minister Rudolf Anschober (Verdi) and other members of the government will announce the plan on Saturday around 4.30pm at a press conference. The measures should be applied from Tuesday to Sunday 6 December inclusive. BLICK will report on the press conference as soon as possible.
Wide-ranging interventions are therefore planned, such as the so-called severe lockout in the spring, when for the first time there was a complete shutdown of public life, including the initial rules, due to the pandemic. Gastronomy, tourism, cultural activities and recreational facilities are closed from 3 November. Additionally, exit restrictions apply from 8pm to 6am, allowing you to leave the “private living space” only for a number of specific reasons, such as meeting basic needs, work and training, care of the needy and relaxation in the open air.
Meetings are allowed only with one person
According to the draft, this exit restriction now applies around the clock. Private meetings are therefore only allowed with a partner, single closest relatives, or single key caregivers. Only shops for daily needs, such as supermarkets, pharmacies, pharmacies and kiosks remain open. Schools are shifting to distance learning and provide assistance options when needed.
The number of infections has continued to increase since the beginning of November despite the so-called partial blockade. Doctors fear a collapse in intensive care. The average number of new infections within seven days was 554.2 cases per 100,000 population across Austria on Friday.
For comparison: Switzerland is currently worse off than Austria. According to the Federal Office of Public Health, we currently have 593.1 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. (SDA / jhs)
