MEP resigns after crown sex party
A party friend of the Hungarian head of state Viktor Orban is in an awkward relationship: after an illegal party in Brussels, allegedly with sex and drugs, MEP Jozsef Szajer resigns. The Brussels Public Prosecutor’s Office reveals spicy details on the course of the police operation.
After surprisingly giving up his mandate as a member of the European Parliament, Hungarian politician Jozsef Szajer admitted that he attended an illegal party in Brussels. “I was there,” the 59-year-old member of the Hungarian ruling party Fidesz wrote in a statement. According to the Belgian media, it was a sexual party.
With the resignation, which comes into effect in the new year, he has drawn political and personal consequences, he said. “He made the only right decision”, said the Fidesz delegation. Szajer was recently head of the delegation in the parliamentary group of the Conservative European People’s Party (EPP), which also includes the CDU and the CSU.
On Sunday, Szajer surprisingly announced that he would step down from his EU mandate. He justified his renunciation with an increasing emotional burden resulting from everyday politics. Like the Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, he is a member of the Fidesz party.
On Friday evening, police found around 20 people in an apartment in central Brussels. Previously, neighbors had complained about noise and possible violations of the crown requirements. According to the Brussels prosecutor’s office, two people found themselves identified as diplomats.

A witness also observed a man trying to escape from the gutter. The police attacked the man, his hands should have been bloody. According to prosecutors, the injuries could be due to the escape attempt. Drugs were found in the refugee’s backpack. He was then escorted home, where he also presented a diplomatic passport. The prosecutor’s office names the initials “SJ” and the year of birth 1961, which suggests that it is Jozsef Szajer.
According to the prosecutor, all those present are accused of violating the requirements of the crown and SJ of violating drug laws. Szajer himself remarked: “I have not used drugs”. The drugs weren’t hers. According to the prosecutor’s office, the consequences of criminal law require the waiver of immunity. Szajer apologized to his family, colleagues and voters.
