"Despite all our efforts, we could not save it," said the responsible physician, according to the PAP news agency.

The assailant was arrested as a result of the security forces. The indictment accuses the alleged perpetrator attempted murder. According to preliminary results, the latter acted on the basis of low reasons, said Deputy Attorney General Krzysztof Sierak. The investigation against the man continued, initially it was an accusation.

Investigators did not rule out a mental illness in the 27-year-old and announced a psychological exam.

Probably an act of revenge

It is said that the author called during the attack that he was innocently detained, they say, citing eyewitnesses. The 27-year-old Danziger reported having served more than five years in prison for bank robbery.

Adamowicz was until 2015 at the current opposition party Bürgerplattform PO.
